American’s Presidential race : an outcome beyond prediction; status quo or watershed ?

8 November, 2016 , the people of USA will decide their next commander -in-chief , the 45th President of the USA. Running to become US president isn’t an easy task, it involves unprecedented amount of zeal & hard work. The whole process takes painstakingly long time with number of formal & informal processes. US presidential election is a matter of great interest for everyone at every corner of the world as the ramifications are immensely significant. Nevertheless , this 58th US election is particularly peculiar, to certain extent entertaining. I don’t think there was a single day for the last several months that US presidential election wasn’t trending on mainstream media and social media.

There is a rise of the far-right movement around the Western world, working class people are simply fed up with status quo and the establishment. Income inequality, racism, immigration, threats from the non-state actors are playing the central deciding factors in every mega democratic decision in the West. The Brexit is the recent biggest example of the ordinary people rejecting the establishment. But what makes this US election peculiar? Well, it’s the two presidential candidates from two major parties; Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump. The Democratic Party deserves some credit for nominating female candidate as president for the first time in the entire history of America, no doubt about that but there were many behind the screen events & scandals of favoritism throughout the process but thanks to Bernie Sanders who brought income inequality & young people core to this Presidential election. And congratulation to Donald Trump for making America more racially divided.

Hillary Clinton isn’t perfect , she has many failures & she isn’t new to this system but at the same time she is the most qualified Presidential candidate in the America’s history. She was the First Lady, Senator & Secretary of State , she has decades of experience of public services. She isn’t flawless but she is the better choice in this election.

If we analyze Donald Trump; his personal life, his plan for America & rest of the world, you can easily conclude why Hillary a better choice over him. Donald Trump was born with a silver spoon, he is a daddy’s son, he has a terrible record of bullying, intimidation & body-shaming targeting women. In the history of US, no other presidential candidates were sued as many times as him. In this election,Trump has nothing to offer but the racial & religious segregation. It’s impossible to build a Southern border wall in Mexico-America, it’s not feasible and practical. It would cost more than 20 billion of taxpayers money to build , let alone maintenance! And this won’t stop illegal immigration. His economic policy will make America bankrupt , he claims to represent working class but he wants to offer tax reduction to the rich businessmen, how contradictory! He wants to ban the entire Muslim world entering USA. This will cause USA losing its key allies in Middle East & in the world , similarly this will cause religious alienation that may work as a breeding ground for terrorists & fanatic ideas. Trump’s foreign policy will cause a fragile relationship among its key allies like UK, Germany, France & the NATO. This will give Russia a smoothing ride around world & the dominance of Putin will escalate further. Trump’s economic policy will make Americans poorer, his foreign policy will make America vulnerable & his immigration policy will make America a backward looking country. But on top of it, does he has the right temper to sit at the Oval Office or to have the nuclear code? This isn’t a reality show, it is reality. This job is the toughest job in the world. I struggle to understand how on earth a man can claim to champion the Working class after publicly announcing not paying tax is an act of smartness! Is he really that rich that he portrays? Or he he is just another phoney? He is very wobbly most of the time. But is the Status Quo candidate even perfect ?

Hilary Clinton made many mistakes in her entire political career & sometime for her reckless decision America had to pay price, a good example is Benghazi. She has been criticised for her drone policy , for her foreign policy or for using an unsecured server for classified documents during her time as Secretary of State. She was also criticised during primaries for her extra-ordinary relationship with the Wall-street lobbyists & donors, Hillary isn’t perfect, she isn’t flawless, yes, she is part of the so called “establishment” but at least she has an economic policy that will help Americans, she has a foreign policy that will retain America’s global influence, she has an immigration policy that will uphold “America as a country of immigrants”, she has at least a plan but Trump doesn’t except his fictional wall. Trump is successful in playing the race card in the racially segregated America, nothing else. But isn’t a time for the establishment to rethink why the ordinary people are fed up with the establishment, why social mobility has failed in many corners of the America, why income equality has remain so significant , why half of Americans still living pay cheque to pay cheque? America’s promise doesn’t come with a price tag, is it still the case or just another sound bite? The result of this election is beyond prediction, spoor is left among race, gender, age & in social hierarchy!
